But who would have thought that marijuana can be infused into one of the staple food that many people around the world enjoy?
Marijuana butter is marijuana-infused butter and it is considered as one of the most common ways to make medicated foods. In order for you to be able to make your own marijuana butter, here is a marijuana butter recipe that is easy to follow.
Marijuana Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of unsalted butter
- 1 cup of water (you can add more if the need calls for it)
- 1 ounce of ground marijuana flower or 11.2 ounces of marijuana trims (this amount of marijuana in the butter can make it quite potent, so if you want that is less potent, you can decrease the amount of marijuana that you add to your butter)
Materials Needed:
- Grinder
- Saucepan or Stockpot
- Wooden ladle
- Spoon
- Metal strainer
- Container
Procedure:
There are actually two ways at which you can make your marijuana butter. One is the stove top method and the other one is slow cooker method.
Stove Top Method:
- Add one cup of water and 1 pound of butter into a stock pot or saucepan. Let the butter melt and begin to simmer at low heat. Add some water to help regulate the temperature and prevent the butter from burning
- When the butter starts to melt, add the ground marijuana flowers or trims.
- Low heat should be maintained and let the mixture simmer for 2 – 3 hours. Stir this mixture occasionally. Make sure that you do not boil the mixture in the pan.
Slow Cooker Method:
- Turn the slow cooker on low heat and add 1 cup of water, 1 pound of butter and 1 to 11/2 ounces of ground marijuana flower.
- Cover the slow cooker and let it simmer on low heat for 8 to 24 hours with occasional stirring. When you are infusing butter, the longer you let the cooking process go on, the more cannabinoids the butter can extract from the marijuana flowers. This would make the cannabutter more potent.
For Both Methods:
- After simmering, pour the hot mixture into a glass, refrigerator-safe container. With a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer, strain out all the marijuana solids from the butter mixture. Press or squeeze it to take as much liquid. Throw out the squeezed out marijuana solids.
- Cover and refrigerate the liquid overnight or until the butter is fully solidified. When the butter is hardened, the butter will separate from the water. This would allow you to separate the water from the butter so that you can use it in your recipes. Discard the water that is separated from the butter.
- Leave the butter to soften before using it.
